What to expect from our tour?

Malasaña and Chueca are among the most typical and famous neighborhoods of Madrid. Do you want to discover them? In that case, join us and walk along their streets with the help of an expert guide in gastronomy and history to fully enjoy tapas bar Madrid.

Our tour lasts approximately two hours. It begins at 12.30h or 19.00h from Monday to Saturday. The meeting point of this tour is at the exit of Chueca’s underground.

You will visit three of the most classic Madrid bars and restaurants in these two neighborhoods.

Our first stop will be in a tavern that is more than 100 years old. It was first opened in 1917, and it was originally a winery that would later become the current tavern. At this tavern, you will try its specialty — the Tinned Fish & Seafood like the mussels, marinade tuna, anchovies, razor-shells and so on. Moreover, you will try its most representative drink, the vermouth.

Our next stop is another tapas bar Madrid that was also founded in the 19th century. In the beginning, it was as a winery too, but later it became one of the most emblematic tapas places in the area. Here you will try its specialty — the Spanish omelet. It has won many contests, being named as one of the best Spanish omelets in Madrid.

The last stop is another classic from the area, which was opened for the first time in 1929 as a liquor store. Here you will taste its classics, like vermouth and its more characteristic tapas, such as tuna pie or “patatas bravas” (spicy fried potatoes).

So we hope to see you soon and don’t hesitate to contact us to join our amazing tour and enjoy with us the best tapas bars Madrid!

The History of Malasaña

You should know that Malasaña has always been one of the most rebellious and emblematic areas of Madrid. It started already in 1880 when Daoíz y Velarde — two young army captains — led one of the most famous revolts in Madrid against the French occupation that the city was suffering at that time.

They barricaded themselves against the French on the emblematic square Plaza del Dos de Mayo in Malasaña. You will find a statue of them in the middle of the square, located in the heart of Malasaña.

Furthermore, there was another brave woman — Manuela Malasaña — who fought against the French at the same time. She was arrested and executed for carrying a pair of scissors when she was just 15 years old. On the north side of Malasaña neighbourhood, you can still find a street named after her in memory of this heroic girl.
